The citadel of Lille is a military work built in the 17th century for the defense of Lille and as part of the square meadow. Named by Vauban himself the queen of the citadels, the military work is remarkable for its dimensions, the quality of its architecture and its current state of conservation.
The citadel was classified as a historical monument in its entirety by decree of September 5, 2012 after different components were classified in 1914, 1921 and 1934. They welcome runners and walkers on Sundays. (source Wikipedia)
